Signs that you may be listened to

Eavesdropping rarely shows itself the way it does in films. But there are things worth paying attention to.

• Competitors or opponents know the content of closed conversations, not documents.
• After a renovation, a move, a visit from a "service company" or an unusual gift, new objects or traces of tampering appeared.
• The phone heats up, drains, shows microphone or camera activity for no reason.
• Foreign objects, new wires, signs of panel removal appeared in the car.
• There are devices on the Wi-Fi network you do not recognise.
• Conversations in one specific place "leak", in others they do not.

What to do

Do not discuss suspicions in the same room or from the same phone. Do not search yourself: a careless search warns whoever is listening. Reach out through another channel and arrange a sweep without witnesses.
